You Shouldn’t Have to Figure This Out Alone
Facing a terminal diagnosis brings fear, grief, and a wave of decisions no family feels prepared for. You may not know what hospice actually includes, whether your loved one qualifies, or how to keep them comfortable at home. That uncertainty is something we hear from families every day.
Acacia Hospice & Palliative Services has guided Orange County families through some of life’s most difficult moments. Our physician-led, interdisciplinary team coordinates everything your family needs: nursing visits, medications, equipment, emotional support, and spiritual care. You stay focused on being present with the person you love.
We serve Irvine neighborhoods including Woodbridge, Northwood, Turtle Rock, Portola Springs, and the Spectrum area, along with communities throughout Orange County.
What Hospice Includes
Hospice care, as defined by Medicare, is a benefit for patients with a life-limiting illness and a prognosis of six months or less if the illness follows its natural course. Care focuses on comfort, quality of life, and supporting your entire family rather than pursuing curative treatment.

Who Qualifies for Hospice Care in Irvine
Hospice eligibility is determined by a physician and is not based on age alone. According to CMS guidelines, a patient may qualify when:
- A physician certifies a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness runs its natural course
- The patient chooses comfort-focused care over curative treatment
- The patient enrolls in a Medicare-certified hospice program
Common qualifying diagnoses include cancer, heart failure, COPD, dementia, kidney disease, liver disease, ALS, and other serious progressive illnesses. Patients may also qualify based on general decline even without a single primary diagnosis.
